About Us

MicroBox was started by Ednir D’Oliveira, who originally wanted to build a container home for personal use until seeing the kind of mediocrity present in the container home industry. His professional experience started as an IBEW electrical apprentice before working in defense and aerospace for a number of years supporting everything from satellite communications for the US Army to submersible robots for the US Navy in Bahrain. In recent years, Ednir worked at ICON Technologies, an Austin, TX tech startup where he was the field engineering lead on over fifty 3D-printed homes and structures. In his free time, he also acquired his Texas real estate license. Between his expertise and the help of engineer friends, MicroBox Homes has what it takes to deliver safe and beautiful container homes.

The MicroBox Way

Many other container home companies merely act as contractors while subs are brought in for every step of the build, much like conventional new home construction. With such a business model, there is no ownership and no continuity. Once one step is finished, different subcontractors take over and this cycle continues until your home is “complete”.

At MicroBox, we believe in owning the process from start to finish. Rigorous QC procedures ensure your walls are square, trim is straight and cabinets are level. Far too many times have we seen doors that don’t shut, walls that wave like the ocean, and gaps filled with a quarter inch or more of caulk. If something doesn’t look right, we’ll work at it until it does. That’s the MicroBox way.
